Men: A Big New Trend in Spas
Richard Levin, MD, Medical Director
According to the International Spa Association, over 30% of today’s spa-goers are men. With baby boomers now making up over half of the population and 12,000 men turning 50 every day, spas have begun finding ways to attract and cater to this important segment of the market. Spas are carrying more products for men, offering new services, and some even offer amenities ranging from wellness programs and barber services to sports viewing and cigar rooms.
Aging male baby boomers are constantly seeking non-invasive cosmetic procedures with little or no down time to keep themselves looking as good as they feel. The three most popular non-invasive procedures men chose to have last year were Botox®, which has seen a 233% increase among men over the past five years, microdermabrasion and laser hair removal. Turquoise has had men in mind since its inception. With muted colors and a separate men’s changing room, the surroundings allow them to feel comfortable and relaxed during the time they spend at our serene oasis. We offer traditional spa therapies specifically designed for men, from facials to deep tissue sports massage, and state-of-the-art medical aesthetic treatments, including Botox® and wrinkle fillers, laser hair removal, photolight facials for aging and pre-cancerous lesions and laser treatments for broken capillaries and spider veins. Our retail boutique features a full line of men’s grooming products and medical grade skincare.
As men seek new ways to relieve stress, maintain their looks and gain a competitive edge against younger men in the work force, spas are responding and offering a variety of solutions. We invite you to Turquoise Medical Spa to find out all we have to offer “just for men.”
